Privacy policy
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
Relay (“Relay”, “we”, “us”) is an AI-powered calling assistant operated by [RELAY OPERATOR]. You hand Relay an everyday phone task — an appointment, a reservation, a billing question — and Relay’s AI assistant places a real phone call on your behalf and reports back. This policy explains what information Relay handles to do that, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account information. Your email address and the first name you give Relay, plus your plan, credit balance, and credit history.
Call tasks. The details you provide when you brief Relay: the business to call, its phone number, what you want done, and any context you add. Briefs can contain personal information — share only what the call needs.
Call records. As a call runs, Relay stores its status timeline and outcome (summary, confirmation numbers, suggested follow-ups). If transcripts are enabled, the written transcript of the call is stored. If call recordings are enabled, audio is stored; recordings are off by default. You can see the current behavior in the app, and you can delete finished calls at any time (see below).
Purchases. When you buy credits or subscribe, Apple processes the payment. We receive purchase records (product, transaction identifiers, subscription status) — never your card number.
Device and diagnostics. A push notification token if you allow notifications, and crash/error reports if diagnostics are enabled in the build. We do not collect your location or your device contacts.
People on the other end of the call
Relay calls real businesses, so the person who answers is part of the conversation Relay conducts and — when transcripts are enabled — part of the stored transcript. Relay’s assistant never claims to be you, and if anyone asks whether they are speaking with an AI, it says so plainly. Recording and disclosure behavior is configurable and conservative by default; you are responsible for using Relay in ways that are lawful where you and the people you ask Relay to call are located.
How we use information
- To provide the service: place your calls, navigate phone menus, hold, speak on your behalf, and report results back to you.
- To operate your account: authentication, credit accounting, purchases, and push notifications about your calls.
- To run the service responsibly: aggregate usage and per-call cost analysis, debugging, and abuse prevention.
We do not sell your information, we do not run ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Who processes information for us
Relay is built on a small set of service providers, each receiving only what their role requires:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and backend hosting |
| Vapi (with Deepgram) | Real-time voice calls: telephony, speech-to-text, speech synthesis |
| Anthropic | The AI model that conducts the conversation and writes call summaries |
| Apple & RevenueCat | Purchases and subscription management |
| Expo | Push notification delivery |
| Resend | Sign-in code emails |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting (when enabled) |
These providers process data to run Relay, under their own security and privacy obligations. Audio for live calls is processed in real time by our voice providers as an inherent part of placing a phone call.
Retention and deletion
- Call history: Settings → Delete call history removes your finished calls, including transcripts and any recordings, at any time.
- Account: you can delete your Relay account and its data from Settings, or by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL]. Purchase records required for accounting are retained as the law requires.
- Operational logs and analytics are kept only as long as needed to run the service.
Your choices
- Grant or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Control call-privacy preferences in the app’s Settings.
- Ask us anything about your data at [CONTACT EMAIL].
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information. Write to [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will honor the rights that apply to you.
Children
Relay is not directed at children and requires users to be adults (see the Terms of Service). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will note the new effective date here and surface the change in the app.
